ABC Challenge 'M': Marine magnetic nail art

Hello and welcome back to another instalment of the ABC Challenge! This week marks the halfway-point of the challenge, but it's not too late to join in - follow the link above to find out more.

For the letter 'M' I first decided to do something with magnetic nail polish, as I'm a huge fan of the 3D-like effect that it has. One of my own favourite designs so far has to be my emerald design, which I did for the letter 'E', where I used a dark green magnetic polish by Masura. In that post I mentioned that I also had a couple of other colours, and today I've used the dark blue one called 'Indian Night'.

My initial plan was just to do a wave pattern - after I'd finished that, I realised I could add some marine life for an additional 'M' element! Read on for all the details, more photos, and the video tutorial.

ABC Challenge 'L': Lace nails

It's week 12 of the ABC Challenge, which brings us to the letter 'L'! I wanted to try layered stamping, but as it's been a busy week I decided to do something simpler. I ended up with this freehand lace design, completely inspired by this design by Lacquerstyle.

Of course, the freehand aspect of this was not part of the initial plan to keep things simple! I was hoping to just stamp on a lace pattern, but that didn't work out. Read on for the details and more photos (no video tutorial this week).

Review: Nail stencils/vinyls by Born Pretty Store

Press sample [?]: These nail stencils were sent to me by Born Pretty Store for my honest review.

Born Pretty Store does not need much introduction to nail art enthusiasts! This online shop sells an enormous variety of affordable nail art supplies, from polishes to stamping plates to brushes and beyond. Recently I got the chance to try out some of their new nail stencils (aka vinyls).

These stencils caught my eye because the patterns are very finely cut. The lines are even thinner than striping tape, and some of the gaps in the vinyls are really small. I wanted to find out if these would work well, or if such fine details are best left to other techniques like stamping.

I'm glad to say that they worked wonderfully, and I would definitely recommend them. They are especially suitable for short nails that don't have as much space for detailed designs. Read on for the full review, the nail designs that I did using these stencils, and a video tutorial.

ABC Challenge 'J': Jewellery-inspired nail art

It's already the tenth week of the ABC challenge - which brings us to the letter 'J'. (Last week I did ice-pop nails for 'I') I found J quite a difficult letter, I did have a few ideas but I wasn't entirely convinced by them (jelly sandwich, jungle leaves, jasmine, jewels). Finally I decided to do this jewellery-inspired necklace design.

ABC Challenge 'I': Ice pop nail art

It's Friday again - and today we've arrived at the letter 'I' on the ABC Challenge. Last week I did hibiscus nails for 'H', and I thought I would keep with the summer/tropical theme with this ice pop or popsicle design.

This adorable pattern is from the same stamping plate as last week's hibiscus pattern, which is UberChic Beauty's 9-01 plate. Check out the full post for more details, photos and the video tutorial!
