Review: Nail vinyls & nail mat by Born Pretty Store

Review of nail vinyls and nail art mat from Born Pretty Store | polilish
Press sample: The nail vinyls and nail art mat were sent to me by Born Pretty Store
for my honest review.

Born Pretty Store have kindly sent me more items to review! In this post I'll be talking about two sets of nail vinyls, as well as their new nail art mat. I also have some water decals that will feature in an upcoming post.

I've done two nail designs using the vinyls - check out the full post to have a look. There's also a video tutorial showing how to make decals using the vinyls and the mat.

Each vinyl sheet comes with 12 vinyls, 3 of which are smaller versions. The 9 larger round stickers measure about 2.5 cm (1 inch) across. If you have short or even medium-length nails, they could definitely be cut in half to fit two nails.

As for the nail art mat, I chose their smaller version, which measures a compact 21 x 15 cm. (The larger one is 28 x 21 cm.) It's made of a durable but flexible silicone material, so it can be folded or rolled up without damaging it at all. It comes rolled up in a cardboard tube, which is very handy. If you're not familiar with these nail mats, they're primarily for protecting your work surface from polish spills and other messes, but they can also be used for making your own nail art decals. The patterns on the mat are guides for decal-making.

The vinyls worked very well for me, as you can see in the video. I didn't have any trouble getting crisp lines and edges. Of course, you can also place the vinyls directly on your nails instead of on a nail mat. Just make sure that your nails are completely dry, and remove some of the stickiness of the vinyl on the back of your hand before applying it to the nail.

In fact, you could also use the vinyls as nail stickers instead of stencils! The leftover bits of vinyl, after you peel off the large round section, would definitely work well as stickers.

For this leaf design, I used ILNP 'Juliette' (rose-gold metallic polish) and Painted Polish 'Tide Pool Teal'.

I also made decals with the second set of vinyls, using the exact same method as above. These vinyls are single-use, but each vinyl can be used for two nails unless your nails are very long. If you don't have enough vinyls to do all ten nails, you can always go for an accent nail instead! I think the leftover petal-shaped vinyl bits here would also look great as stickers.
